My earliest exposure to
iaido was through the Mugai Ryu Iai Hyodo of the Seishinkai and
NKJU. One student of this art was Roger Wehrhahn. Wehrhahn Shihan
was Chief Training Officer of the NKJU.
After beginning Iaido
training in Mugai Ryu Iai Hyodo, Wehrhahn Shihan had been exposed
to the style of Muso Shinden Ryu and became a student of Mitsuzuka
Takeshi. Mitsuzuka Sensei was one of the last students of Nakayama
Hakudo and is a leading proponent of Muso Shinden Ryu.
I learned the Keshi Ryu, Omori Ryu and other kata from Wehrhahn
Shihan and still train with him and the San Shin Kai when ever possible.
Wehrhahn Shihan, Chief
Instructor of the North American
San Shin Kai. The San Shin Kai was organized by Mitsuzuka Takeshi
to spread Muso Shinden Ryu throughout North America. |
